Different Associations of Diabetes With b-Cell Dysfunction and Insulin Resistance Among Obese and Nonobese Chinese Women With Prior Gestational Diabetes

چکیده
We performed a cross-sectional survey 1–5 years after 1,263 women who had GDM gave birth. Polytomous logistic regression models were used to assess the associations of b-cell dysfunction (the lower quartile of HOMA [%b]), insulin resistance (the upper quartile of HOMA-insulin resistance), decreased insulin sensitivity (the lower quartile of HOMA [%S]), and different categories of BMI with prediabetes and diabetes risk.

OBJECTIVE To examine the relative contributions of β-cell dysfunction and insulin resistance to postpartum diabetes risk among obese and nonobese women with prior gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We performed a cross-sectional survey 1-5 years after 1,263 women who had GDM gave birth. Polytomous logistic regression models were used to assess the associations of...
متن کاملSerum Adiponectin in Women with Gestational Diabetes
Background &Objective: Adiponectin is an adipose tissue adipokin that may contribute to obesity and insulin resistantance. The aim of this study was to evaluate the associations between serum concentrations of adiponectin and insulin resistance in gestational diabetes (GDM).Materials & Methods: Serum adiponectin levels, fasting blood sugar (FBS), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C), insulin levels and ...
متن کاملEffects of Combined Training on Progranulin, Glycosylated Hemoglobin, and Insulin Resistance in Overweight and Obese Women with Type 2 Diabetes
Introduction: Progranulin (PGRN) has been recently introduced as a new indicator of chronic inflammatory response in type 2 diabetes. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of combined training on serum levels of progranulin, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and insulin resistance in overweight and obese women with type 2 diabetes. Materials and Methods: A total of 36 women were divi...
متن کاملPositive Correlation of Resistin with Blood Lipids in Gestational Diabetes
Background &Objective: Resistin is an important adipokin, secreted from adipocytes and causes insulin resistance. Gestational diabetes (GDM) is characterized by insulin resistance in insulin target tissues. The goal of this research was to investigate whether there is a relationship among resistin and various clinical and metabolic parameters in GDM.Materials & Methods: 76 pregnant women who go...
متن کاملعملکرد تیروئید و ارتباط آن با مقاومت به انسولین در زنان مبتلا به دیابت بارداری در مقایسه با زنان باردار سالم
Background and Objective: Gestational diabetes and hypothyroidism in pregnancy are the most common endocrine disorders which are considered as insulin resistant conditions. Maternal thyroid hormones play an important role in embryogenesis, fetal maturity, and child’s IQ level. It seems that subclinical hypothyroidism in women with gestational diabetes has a higher prevalence. Since thyroid func...
